5 Skills your child need to know before kindergarten

In the realm of childhood milestone, kindergarten school plays a crucial part in forming the base for your child’s future. It can be an emotional period of transition for the parents as well as the child. You are anxious, nervous and curious about sending your child off to kindergarten. Kindergarten school after all is a kind of a big deal. It doesn’t matter if your child has been in a preschool since the age of two, gearing up for the very first experience in a bigger classroom can be difficult thing. So it is very essential for you to teach your child these 5 basics skills before enrolling her/him into a kindergarten school in India. These things may seem little to you but it will give your child confidence and independence.
Ø  To tie the shoes
First teach your child to fold each of the lace into a single “bunny ear”, then teach her/him to do the “X” and go through the first loop. Repeat this until she/he learns perfectly. Let them tie everything, like the cushion on the chair, your shoes, aprons, etc. The child will literally get frustrated doing it again and again but once they learn to do it correctly, they will be more confident about themselves.
Ø  To open a tiffin box
Children are so use to eating in the plate that they find it difficult to open or eat properly from a tiffin box. Sometimes in the process of opening the tiffin, there are chances that they might drop the tiffin or spill the food on themselves. So, it is necessary to teach them the trick to open their tiffin box. Try to buy a tiffin box with simple lid-lock.
Ø  Potty training
Kindergarten teachers don’t do diapers. Your child must be potty trained before the first day of the school. Accidents happen, of course, and there is no problem with that. But being able to take care of his or her own bathroom needs consistently is a necessity for any child before starting kindergarten school in India.
Ø  Letters, numbers and sorting
Being to identify all the 26 letters at this stage is really not necessary, but knowing at least few letters is important, as it shows an understanding of the significance of those shapes. Your child certainly won’t be learning to add and subtract this year, but it is important to walk in on the first day knowing the basics. She/he should also know to sort objects by color, shape and size.
Ø  Essential life-skills

Don’t send your little ones out into the world without this teaching them these essential life-skills. Make sure that your kid knows your address, your phone number, your last name, or at least slide a piece of paper in her/his socks with all the information on it.
